Arriving

Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport (ZAG)

This is a tiny airport for the city of Zagreb, less than 15 gates combined. Small and simple airport with a straightforward design, no bells and whistles here.

Immigration/Customs

At the time of my visit, Croatia was not yet part of Schengen so all international arrivals were treated the same and went through Croatian customs. I believe this will change in 2024. Immigration and customs were a simple affair and passed with relative ease.

Lounges

There is one Priority Pass accessible lounge at ZAG and that is the PrimeClass Lounge. The food options were limited to cold prepackaged sandwiches and snacks. Nothing impressive here.

Currency

As of 2023, Croatia will use the euro. ATMs and exchanges are plentiful in the airport and in the city center.

Taxis/Rideshare/Local Transportation

Uber is available in Zagreb and rides are cheap, <$3 USD for a ride across town. Local trams and buses are also available. Taxis were available as well but I do not try those.

SIM Cards/Wi-Fi

Coming out of immigration and baggage claim, you’ll find a store to buy SIM cards by the exit of the airport. I believe the store was called “TISAK”. I purchased a Tele2 SIM card for $10USD with 10GB of data.
